January Favourites: Let There Be Light!

Too many things to love, too little time to remember all and put them in a systematic list. Luckily, I have 12 new chances to do that. So here’s presenting the first Favourites Post of the year. I’m glad it’s back. I love this little tradition of ours. Don’t you? 🙂

  1. Burt’s Bees Lip Balm

I have chapped lips almost through the year, so when ‘winter is coming’ I desperately need to do something about my lips. I’ve tried a lot of lip balms in my life and I’m pretty sure I have some sort of a lip balm fetish; but I digress. I had heard/read about Burt’s Bees lip balm but since it’s not available in India I hadn’t tried it yet. Recently my good Samaritan cousin was planning to visit from the US and asked if I wanted anything, and I jumped at the offer. I asked her to get me Burt’s Bees Lip Balm (among other things). I must report back saying it’s totally worth the hype. It hydrates your lips and it doesn’t leave that annoying whitish film that a lot of balms do. If you apply and sleep at night. it’ll still be on in the morning plus your lips will feel all soft and supple. Now I’m beginning to sound like an ad, so I’ll stop here. But you get the picture, no?

2. Strawberries

Guys, it’s strawberry season. That’s only like my favourite berry 😛  I was so grateful when the bestie bought back these huge, juicy, out of this world strawberries from her recent trip to Mahabaleshwar. Just look at the plate. If you’re not drooling, I honestly don’t know what you’re made of!

3. Shiny bracelets

So most of you already know that I’m Sindhi and I kind of can’t stay away from bling. I may have way too many shiny accessories and I’m not even ashamed. On a recent (way-too-quick) halt at Colaba Causeway I spotted these pretty iridescent bracelets. They are great to stack along with your watch and can be worn altogether or separately. They all have a different hue (pink, purple, gold) and I’m kind of, totally obsessed with them! They are much daintier than they look in this picture, FYI.

4. Mac Cosmo

So as I’ve mentioned a lot of times before, I’m kind of new to makeup and it’s wonders. I’m currently building an enviable treasure trove of lip shades from different brands. Obviously Mac cannot and must not be left off that list (duh!). I recently got my hands on Mac Cosmo which I love and it’s the quintessential daily wear pink we all need in our lives. Pro Tip: I try and pick out what I want before hand by checking it out in the store and/or reading reviews online and then finally purchase from Duty Free. Works out cheaper that way. Yes, again – I’m Sindhi and you’re welcome!

5. Selfie Light

Yes, I’ve upped my selfie game! A selfie light – as narcissistic and millennial as it gets, no? I spotted this adorable compact little gadget at a mobile shop in Bandra (I had gone to repair my phone and had time to kill). For Rs 250 it is a frickin’ steal and quite a conversation starter I might add. Not to mention, it has improved my Snapchat game tremendously – if I may say so myself. Add me and see for yourself (id:smritinotani). Oh, I’m very aware that that was a shameless plug but hello – I’m the same person who uses and carries around a selfie light…so….

January Favourites

6.  Lindt Chocolate

Never underestimate the power of chocolate. Especially if it can legit replace dessert. This mousse filled delight is honestly the best thing I’ve ever had. I have found my perfect Lindt bar – it was love at first bite! I have very strong feelings about this chocolate and they are usually narrated with an orgasmic expression. So you get the picture. Do try it for an otherworldly experience.

7. Koffee With Karan

I absolutely could not leave out my current favourite show. My darling Kjo at his charming best getting all of Bollywood to dish the dirt – I live for this stuff! Whether you watch guiltily or roll your eyes every two seconds you can’t help but tune in to KWK. As for me? Well I’m the quintessential fan so I don’t care for the conjecture (if you know what I mean!) I will keep myself free on Sunday nights as long as this show keeps airing! #sorrynotsorry
