I Reviewed A Book And Accepted My Old Age!

AUGUST FAVOURITES:

Hi lovers, I’m back with that section which I just now realize has started to form a distinct pattern. First, I marvel at how fast the year is passing by  (we are already on our 8th Monthly Favourites Edition of the year!) Then, I make an excuse for either shopping or not shopping too much; and after that I hastily begin to describe what I ate, shopped, bought, liked the last month. Not that I’m complaining – I kinda love doing this every month. 🙂 So let’s look at ze goodies, shall we?

How To Be A Bawse

I thought I’ll mix things up by starting with a book review! Now full disclosure, I am a HUGE Lilly Singh fan! For those of you who don’t know her – she’s a popular Canadian youtuber and actress of Indian origin who specialises in comedy. She’s also known for her fierce and bold ‘ill-say-it-like-it-is’ attitude! When I bought her book I was a little worried that I might not like it since a large part of her audience is very young and I was thinking it might be catered more to them. But I’m super happy to report that I actually loved her new book ‘How To Be A Bawse’. I found the writing super relatable and I loved the pertinent lessons it contains. If you’ve been feeling like you lack motivation, pick this book for the perfect dose of inspiration. What helps that it isn’t preachy and takes you behind the scenes into her life as one of the world’s biggest content creators. Her wit is on point and it’s the kind of book absolutely anyone can enjoy. Sure, not every lesson will be relatable and will apply to your life, but that really shouldn’t stop you from giving this book a chance!

Vitamin E Night Cream by The Body Shop

Guys, with a heavy heart I must admit something – I’m ageing. Been super worried about my skin lately and thought I need to invest in some skincare products. Had heard a lot about the Vitamin E Range from The Body Shop and decided to buy the night cream. I have to say that so far, I’m very pleased! It really hydrates your skin and when you wake up it feels plump and nourished. Okay, now I’m starting to sound like an ad. So I’ll just conclude by saying that in case – like me – you had never even thought or bothered with a skincare routine before, the vitamin E range by The Body Shop is a good place to start.

PS: The packaging is simple and unassuming but don’t let that dissuade you.

Mac Whirl

I am so obsessed with this lip colour! It’s a very 90s brown; by that I mean the kind that was absolutely in fashion then! The internet tells me it’s also a dupe for a Kylie Cosmetics lipstick shade called Dolce K. I wouldn’t know much about that but I do know I’m obsessed with this brown and have been wearing it on my lips every other day. Since it’s Mac, it goes without saying the quality is great and it’s super long lasting! So give it a whirl if you’re in the market for some new lipsticks! 🙂

Also, you should know, this photograph isn’t doing justice to the actual colour. It is not this orangy actually and looks like a deep nudish brown on the lips.

Organix Hair Serum

Much like my skin, my hair too has been crying out for help. I’m really stoked I found this Hair Serum by Organix because it’s really doing wonders for my tresses. My hair is very thick and tends to get dry and frizzy easily but using this serum after a wash ensures they remain soft and manageable. PS: It’s on the pricy side (Rs 700 apprx) but I can vouch for the quality and we all know that is the mane thing. (If you only you could see the glee on my face after that incredible pun!)

FabIndia Lavender Relaxing Balm

Apart from turning old (which I have clearly touched upon in the points above) I am also turning hipster! Been majorly into organic products off late – plan to do a whole different post on that. I recently bought quite a few things from FabIndia (one of my all time favourite brands for clothes, decor, beauty, food, you-name-it!). I discovered this Lavender Relaxing Balm sitting pretty on their shelves and thought to myself that I totes need something of the relaxing balm sort that smells halfway decent. I actually find this super soothing and calming and I’d like to think it helps with minor aches and pains too – don’t expect major pain relief or anything. I suffer from really bad posture and I keep getting neck pains so I kind of reach to this often (most likely because the smell makes me feel like I’m in a fancy spa) and I’m very happy with it.

Game of Thrones

Unless you live under a rock, you know that Game of Thrones Season 7 just aired worldwide. This meant every Monday there was something explosive to look forward to. If you’re a fan of the show you’ll know that there’s a deep void now that the show is over. Although this wasn’t the last season, rumour has it that the show will only return in 2019. Imagine having to wait two whole years to know what happens next! I’m afraid I’ll reach peak old age by then.

Btw, I wasn’t sure what I feel about the Jon + Daenerys pairing till it actually happened and now I’m shipping them real hard. Well, technically, they’re on a boat and seem to be shipping themselves ‘real hard’ if ya know what I mean. But oh well, can’t wait to see what that crazy Cersei does next! God, that woman is evil and I expected nothing less of her. PS: If you want to geek out on Game of Thrones, I’m free to talk anytime. Just the other day I attempted an Instagram Live session and spoke about GOT too. I hope you’re following me there and I hope you attend the next one!

That’s it for this month children, catch you sooner than soon!

As always, feel free to connect and do let me know what all you’ve been loving off late.

Till then,

Keep it real,

xx
