Hiiii lovelies, I know it’s been a long absence from this space and I would love to go into the what/why/how but today is Diwali! It’s a day of new beginnings. Lord Ram didn’t come back home to Ayodhya to hear a bunch of excuses, amirite? LOL
I’ve been quite pumped about this Diwali so I thought I’ll give you a sneak peak of my decked up new home and some other things while I’m at it. Hope you have a lovely day and shine on like a Sindhi aunty at a Kitty Party! Or like Beyonce. Or both. Oooh, imagine that.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted a cute home office kind of set up. And let’s just say I’m halfway there. The current house I’m staying at has half a room (a converted balcony) that I’ve dedicated to Real Girl (AKA me!). It’s got all my fun Real Girl paraphernalia and I’ve jazzed it up for Diwali and how. 🙂
(PS: Maybe someday I’ll have a bigger home office space but for now I absolutely adore my cozy corner).

(Lanterns from Dadar. Multicolour lamp from The Bombay Store)

This pin board is on the opposite wall and I absolutely love it! It gives me all the fuzzy feels while being motivational too! I’ve added a Decography frame to it and some of my stuff from the Kaam Dekho Naam Nahi hamper!

Then there’s this pretty epic multicoloured lantern hanging in the centre of the room by the big window. (Also from Dadar)

BTW, Isn’t it cool that these lanterns are eco friendly? They are made from cloth instead of paper. #RealGirlSavesTheEnvironment WOOHOOOOO 😛

And here is our pièce de résistance – yup, everyone who comes home squeals when they see this! It’s too eye-catching to miss and too cheesy to ignore. For those of you who don’t know, #Smaran was our – supposedly ironic – wedding hashtag (Smriti+Karan) and it’s a name that just stuck with us! People just collectively call us that now.
It’s like – ” Oh, Is Smaran coming? Smaran hasn’t watched this movie yet. Smaran won’t make it today.” It’s quite hilarious if you think about it!
Anyway, I’m absolutely in love with our light box. I think it’s one of the cutest things in the house. Perfect for a round-the-year lighting detail, no?
And then there’s the usual stuff like fairy lights and diya LEDs around the house. They just add a touch of whimsy and really make my heart happy. Since it’s still raining on and off in Bombay, it made so much more sense to focus on lighting up inside the house instead of outside.

So that’s about it. Oh wait, let me show you this cool thing! I really ‘adulted’ up a notch and ordered some personalized stationery for Karan and me this time to go with our gifting. I’m in love with it (why am I over-using that phrase so much?) and it (maybe-not-so-coincindantally) matches our couch! I’m *clearly* obsessed with watercolour florals right now so I’m not surprised I want that print on everything!

Also, speaking of gifting, everyone’s been loving my Mom’s chocolate brand – ChocoHaul. She takes orders all through the year and her chocolates are divine! I’ve been gorging on them like there’s no tomorrow.
(Side Note: I’m so proud of my mom for creating something so wonderful.) 🙂

Okay, one last thing. I’m ODing on highlighter this year and love that sparkly, glowy look as if sunbeams are emanating from your face!

Highlighter – Nyx Born To Glow.

Okay, okay – I’ll go now. This post went from look-at-my-house to oooh-chocolates to I-know-how-to-sort-of-do-my-makeup very quickly! You’re allowed to roll your eyes at me. I’d do it too if I were in your place.
Chalo, now bye! You have a spectacular Diwali with your loved ones and I will too. Sending you guys the warmest hugs and wishing you prosperity in every sphere of your beautiful lives.
So much love to you,
xx
