If there’s one thing you watch today, let it be this.
The internet throws crap at us a dime-a-dozen, but every once in a while it also has the potential to make us sit up and think. Depression doesn’t have a prototype; it could happen to literally anyone. And I’m glad people are slowly opening up to that fact. We need to start talking about mental health. It’s a conversation that needs to be more common. Much more than – where are you traveling next? and what plans for Diwali? Because it’s much more important than idle chatter.
My friend had used a very wise analogy recently. She said – you wouldn’t ignore a fractured arm, would you? You would definitely treat it. You’d go the doctor, get it plastered, even pay big bucks for the whole procedure. Then how is it that you think going to a doctor to treat your mind is not okay?
I’m doing my bit to rid the stigma attached to seeking medical attention in the mental health space. I hope you’ll watch and share this powerful video too. I’d love to cover more stuff on this topic on the blog in the future. But I think this message from the Live Love Laugh foundation is a great start. 🙂 #DobaraPoocho
